What is the Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance? The Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance is a group of Middlesex, Somerset and Mercer County sites, historical and eventful along the Raritan & Millstone Rivers. It includes adjacent corridors which support these sites. It links Perth Amboy on the Raritan with Princeton on the Millstone. Mission of the Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance, Inc.
The mission of the Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance is to promote preservation and understanding of the rich eventful and cultural heritage of significant historical, educational, and cultural sites located in the Raritan-Millstone region. To fulfill this mission, the Alliance sponsors programs including the Sunday Series held four times in September, November, February, and May of each year. Each quarter, a member site is featured as the location of an informative program. Our 141 sites include commercial, non-profit, and educational entities, museums, private homes, and resturants. We encourage members to join us for brunch, the program and a tour of the site. In 2005, the Alliance co-sponsored with the Daughter of the American Revolution, Jersey Blue Chapter, an African-American Symposium which explored the role of the African-American in the American Revolution. Through events such as this, we hope to inspire interest and involvement in our shared history. Our website, www.raritanmillstone.org, is designed to inform and to provide links with the broader preservation community. Membership Contributions Membership Contributions for The Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance are $35.00 per calendar year, payable in January or upon joining. Organizations, sites and individuals are eligible for membership. |
