Van Doren House |

Road Tel: Private Residence The Van Doren house is an early example of a colonial era building. After the Battle of Princeton, Washington called a halt to his night-long march originating in Trenton, and set up camp at the John Van Doren house, while he himself became its guest. The future president, James Monroe, and the artist Charles Willson Peale, were among those who settled down in hay barns for the night. A Dutch barn associated with the farm stands just beyond the house down a straight lane. |
